More retro shop pics!

Thanks Mog Fry for these Instagram gems taken in the shop today. I hear there is a whole Instagram community too, so check it out!

Corsages and Pin Cushion Cups..

More lovely treasures were made for grandmas..

Pin cushion cups with decorated gift boxes were great fun to make too..

And here is Sarah with her Fuxico Corsage workshop..

Many thanks Sarah, and I believe more presents for grandmas were made here too, lucky grandmas!

Tunnocks hit the pop-up shop!

Some fun was had with these Tunnocks wrappers and the badge machine..inspired by a badge I picked up in Glasgow at The Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery (Scotland being the home of Tunnocks). We enjoyed eating them first too! That really is having your cake and eating it. Thanks Chris..

Gnome Lavender Bags!

Cathy came in today with her quirky little felt gnome people, which got made and filled with delightful lavender to banish the winter blues (it was cold and rainy outside).

We had bursts of activity and busyness creating a heartwarming atmosphere..

Cool Pop Shots..

Ian came and took some cool shots on his iphone of the pop up..

I must admit I am a sucker for those retro effects!

Badge City!

Beautiful badges are being made now that the Pop Shop is fully open..Come on down it's only £3 a badge, and see how beautiful they are! It's great to get children making presents too as they also have neat little boxes.

And it doesn't just have to be children having all the fun..

Collages, prints and papercuts..

We are looking forward to our launch of the pop-up shop on saturday! We are really pleased to be able to feature work by Cindy Wilde, whose work fits beautifully with our bird theme as you can see.
Do scroll down to find out more about our pop-up opposite College Green, starting this saturday.

At Cuppa Cake & Make we are passionate about the art of the handmade..the experience of making things and the sense of belonging and purpose it can bring. Last time we had so many happy makers through our doors and it was a real buzz. We hope to enhance this even more this time round with new makers sharing new skills. If you have any comments on making and handmade themes we would love to hear from you all out there!

Wednesday 31st November we have a Rubber Stamping workshop with Sarah Salaman, running alongside our drop-in workshops all afternoon. If you would like to book to guarantee a place (and on any other workshop) then email us at makeandteabirds@yahoo.co.uk. You will get the opportunity to create your own designs and print them onto a variety of lovely cards and papers- perfect for gifts!

Fuxico Brooch Workshop!

Our feature workshop for Thursday 1st december at the Pop-Up Shop (at The Parlour opposite College Green, scroll down to previous posts for info)..will be Fuxico Brooches with Sarah Jessie Peyton. Come down between 12 and 2pm to make one or more for yourself or as a gift.
They are rooted in Brazilian folklore, with the name deriving from the Spanish verb for gossiping! Historically women sit to make them together, and I guess the gossip follows naturally.
Sarah knows more about the fascinating threads of their Australian and Suffolk histories too.
They will be £10 each to make (what a snip for a lifetime skill!), with all materials and friendly tuition provided. Sarah will be available between 12 and 2pm, and of course the tea will be flowing.

Joanna Rose china!

Here is a small glimpse of the delightful tableware Joanna Rose creates using retro ceramic transfers and contemporary illustrative images. We will be honoured to be selling a selection of her work in the pop-up shop.
Ceramic treasures to brighten your day!

Preparation for the pop up!

We are all working away, preparing for the next pop up experience (see previous post for exciting details!).
Here is a photo of our new window display in the making and a small gnome working hard on it. Hopefully it will be even more magical than the last time!
Details of our 'feature workshops' are emerging: recycled bag making, felt doll corsages, pin cushion cups and possibly some rubberstamping. Watch this space for details of times, and do drop in at any time.
